What’s Startup Year?
Startup Year is a national first government initiative launching in 2024 that will help young Australians bring their ideas to life. Eligible students will be able to access a new form of Higher Education Loan Program assistance, STARTUP-HELP and participate in a higher education-based entrepreneurship course. Students selected for STARTUP-HELP places will also be eligible for income support, where they meet other eligibility requirements.
The UNSW Startup Year Program provides a unique pathway for recent graduates with aspirations to build, launch and grow their ideas.
Accredited as a 1-year Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship, it is a practical and immersive learning journey where you can refine your entrepreneurial skills, gain hands-on experience, and transform your innovative ideas into impactful solutions.

In the span of a year with UNSW Startup Year, you can achieve significant milestones and accomplishments. Here's what you can expect from this transformative program:
Developing Founders Skills & Mindset: Engage in a bespoke incubator program designed to enhance your business acumen, entrepreneurial capabilities, and leadership skills.
Building Connections: Build valuable relationships with a network of founders, mentors and industry professionals.
Access to Resources: Get access to world-class Makerspace facilities and on-going coaching support.
Pitching to Investors: At the end of the program, you will have an exclusive opportunity to pitch your startup to our angel investors community.

To be eligible for the UNSW Startup Year Program, you must have:
Completed a recognised degree from an accredited higher education provider in Australia
Achieved a Credit average (65% or higher) in your degree
Be able to participate full time in the year-long program.
Demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship and a desire to create or join a startup venture.
Be a Domestic Student

Application to the UNSW Startup Year Program (Graduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship) is made directly via UNSW Online.
After submitting an application via UNSW Online, you will be invited to:Submit a 3-minute motivation video outlining your goal and motivation with the UNSW Startup Year Program. Additionally, you have the option to submit a lean canvas for your startup idea (optional, you don’t have to have an idea to apply!)
Provide relevant academic transcripts and any additional documentation requested by the UNSW admission team.
Participate in a selection process, which may include interviews, presentations, or other assessment methods. The selection process will be conducted throughout February to April 2024, with final offers being released on April 19, 2024.
