Medicine & Health - Ignite Your Impact
UNSW Medicine & Health have partnered with UNSW Founders to design and launch a tailored end-to-end “Ignite Your Impact” health program to allow Faculty staff to upskill in alignment with their chosen pathway to impact.
The program is designed to accommodate Faculty staff at various stages of their impact journey, from those just beginning to explore the potential reach of their work to those already in the process of validating its application. Whether you're looking to influence, translate, or commercialise, this program guides you in identifying the most effective pathway for your specific goals.
You’ll have access to self-paced online education modules, 1:1 coaching tailored to your specific needs, industry innovation challenges, and the opportunity to put your newly acquired knowledge and ideas into practice. Watch the information session and apply today!
What is the program?
The Medicine & Health Ignite Your Impact is a self-paced program designed to amplify your impact. This program is run on the UNSW Founders Online Community Platform and contains modules spread across three impact pathways:
Influence & Advocacy which contains modules around Research Lean canvas, UNSW Policies (IP and COI, PoW Policy), and Articulating Impact.
Translational Research which further adds modules on Project Mapping, Lean Canvas and Clinical Validation.
Innovation providing access to a comprehensive library of resources to progress from idea to commercialisation.
By signing up to this program you will gain access to:
1:1 Coaching & Mentoring. The UNSW Founders team is available at any time, and any stage of your translation journey. We have staff who specialise in research translation and commercialisation, allowing us to guide you through the Customer Discovery process and create evidence for the specific pathway to impact for your research.
Seamless access to UNSW Health Innovation Ecosystem via coaching and events.
Industry Innovation Challenges. These challenges will be available in 2024 and serve as an opportunity for you to put your learnings into practice and begin developing your idea / product / impact pathway.
Join a supportive community. There is also an opportunity for Faculty members to coach and mentor others within the UNSW Founders community who may require specific technical, scientific or clinical expertise.

But who is UNSW Founders?
UNSW Founders is university’s entrepreneurship program available to help students, staff and alumni build entrepreneurial skills, and turn their great ideas and research into startups. We have extensive experience running successful research translation, entrepreneurship & innovation programs that provide:
Research translation and commercialisation education: entrepreneurial HDRs and Research making impact (in collaboration with Knowledge Exchange)
Entrepreneurial education: impact & commercialisation pathways, business validation, market/product fit, IP, and fundraising education
Mentoring: ongoing access to a high-quality coaching and industry mentor network of 500+ members
Investor networks: introductions and access to investor networks, including a network of 150+ angel investors
Incubation space: access to a co-working space located on an entrepreneurial campus
Community: connections into the ecosystem and ongoing founder community support.
Our team, composed of 21 ex-founders, angel investors, program designers, facilitators, marketers, scientists and product managers, works 1:1 with startups and runs a range of success incubator and accelerator programs.
In 2019, UNSW Founders partnered with The George Institute for Global Health to design and deliver the Health 10x program, to accelerate commercialisation of the next generation of affordable and scalable health solutions for major unmet medical needs, globally. Health 10x represents a follow-on pathway for those who have completed the Ignite Your Impact Program and wish to pursue a commercialisation pathway as the Founder of their own company.
