Hult Prize Finals – the winners and the road ahead

UNSW Founders is proud to announce Viridescent as the winner of the UNSW Hult Finals 2024!

Viridescent is working towards decentralising fuel production at the individual level. Producing sustainable biofuel, water, and fertiliser for the future.

The Hult Prize is a global competition where students from around the world compete for $1 Million USD in funding to make their social enterprise idea a reality. This year, UNSW had the highest number of applications of any university in Australia with 29 teams and more than 100 individuals applying to be a part of the UNSW branch of the program. The UNSW finals showcased 8 ambitious teams competing for the 1 ticket to the Summits in Bangkok and $10,000 from UNSW Founders and the Centre for Social Impact to support their travel.

The next step in their journey is to travel to Bangkok, where they will pitch in the Summits alongside up to 100 startups. From there, our winners will have a chance to take out the prize and work their way to the Global Accelerator in London. The competition culminates in a final pitch event where the winning team will receive $1Million USD to turn their idea into a reality.

UNSW’s participation in the Hult Prize is a testament to its commitment innovation and social impact.

The participation in the Hult Prize was also supported and sponsored by The Centre for Social Impact, a collaboration of Australian universities who provide education, tools and research to help catalyse social change for a better world.

We are thrilled with all the teams who competed and will continue to support them pursuing their ideas.

Recently, UNSW was named the most entrepreneurial university in Australia.
